Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba) is a manga written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotōge. The anime was produced a few years later by Studio Ofutable.

This first part consists of 26 episodes, while season 2 is announced for 2021. The story of Demon Slayer takes place in Japan, in the Taishō era. Tanjiro Kamado, the hero of the series, is the son of a family of charcoal sellers. His father died a few years earlier, and to provide for his family, he sells charcoal in the city.
In the city, a rumor circulates: at nightfall, there would be a demon ready to kill nearby. Unable to return home, Tanjiro spends the night with a good Samaritan. Upon his return, he finds his family decimated by the man-eating demon. Nezuko, his little sister, is the sole survivor of this massacre, but she has been transformed into a demon herself.
As Tanjiro is attacked by her, he is helped by a demon slayer named Giyu Tomioka. While trying to eliminate Nezuko, Giyu quickly notices the bond between her and Tanjiro and decides to abandon the fight by sheathing his sword.
Giyu then advises Tanjiro to go to Master Sakonji Urokodaki, who can train him to become a demon slayer. This is how Tanjiro's quest begins to find an antidote to restore his little sister to human form.
